Dubai International City is currently preparing to provide a Flying Taxi service by the end of 2025, making the United Arab Emirates the first in the Arab world in terms of entering the world of transportation through the sky.

Dubai witnessed the signing of an agreement to launch the flying taxi service, or what is known as the Sky Taxi, during the World Government Summit hosted by the emirate during the period from 12 to 14 February 2024, which was launched under the slogan “Shaping Future Governments”.
The agreement was signed between the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the General Civil Aviation Authority, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Joby Aviation, a global leader in developing flying taxi services, and Skyports, which specializes in providing infrastructure for vertical airports.
The Flying Taxi Will Be Available Across The UAE
Joben Biffert, founder and CEO of Joby Aviation, said that the company plans to bring production aircraft to Dubai for flight testing in early 2025, and the goal is to launch the service before the end of 2025.
Pointing out that the initial goal is to launch the service on four routes within Dubai. Thus, gradually expanding the service so that the experience is generalized in all other emirates.
On the other hand, Joby signed an agreement with London-based Skyports to design, build and equip four VTOL Aircraft sites throughout Dubai. The flight from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah is expected to take less than 10 minutes, according to Addison Ferrell, Director of Skyports.
Sky Taxi… an Environmentally-Friendly Transport System
The “Sky Taxi” stations are innovatively designed and include various facilities, such as take-off and landing areas, a designated area for passengers, taking into account the application of all security measures, and the provision of electric charging facilities.
Sky taxis are sustainable and environmentally friendly, operate on electric power, do not produce operational emissions, and are characterized by safety, comfort and speed.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Civil Aviation Authority, said in a press statement:
The Flying Taxi service will bring about an unprecedented transformation in the urban transportation system within the Emirates, making it more flexible and sustainable.
