With the participation of only 9 major car brands, and amid the complete absence of major players in the global automobile industry market, the 2024 Geneva International Motor Show started this year on February 26, It continues until March 3 at the Palexpo Convention Center in the heart of the Swiss capital, Geneva.
According to experts, although the 2024 Geneva Motor Show will be held on a more limited scale; than in previous years, but the automakers participating in the event will display for the first time a group of unique innovations.
On top of it is the Renault 5 small electric car, and two new cars from the Chinese company SAIC, namely the MG3 small car and the L6 sedan produced by IM, which is SAIC’s distinguished production line.
A Distinct Presence of Emerging Brands… and a Complete Absence of Some Automotive Giants
Only nine main brands will be present in the 2024 Geneva International Motor Show: Renault, Dacia, BYD and their sub-brands Denza, Yangweng, Lucid, MG and the new brand SAIC IM, along with the Italian car design company PININFARINA.
What is unfortunate about the upcoming exhibition is the absence of the German brands Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen, which announced that they will not participate this year. Major Asian brands are also absent, including Toyota and Hyundai.
It is noteworthy that the State of Qatar hosted the Geneva International Motor Show last year in October 2023 inside the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center, where the event witnessed the distinguished appearance of many international cars, led by the 2024 Audi SQ8.
Exclusive Car Innovations Shown For The First Time at The 2024 Geneva International Motor Show
Sources reported that the upcoming exhibition this year will include the usual sections focusing on various aspects of the automotive industry. Including traditional displays of automakers showcasing their new cars, electric vehicles, modified vehicles and other automotive-related products and services.

BYD
The giant Chinese company BYD revealed the launch of its new hybrid model, The Seal U DM-i, in the European market during the second quarter of this year.
BYD is also showcasing the Yangweng U8 hybrid large SUV, the Denza N7 all-electric mid-size crossover and the D9 minivan.
DACIA
Dacia, a subsidiary of the French Renault group, will present the new electric car, The Face-Lifted Spring, which experts said is considered the least expensive European electric model on the market.
The new generation of the Duster small SUV will be shown publicly for the first time and the company is also presenting a prototype of the Sandrider speedster.
LUCID
This year, through its first appearance in Geneva, Lucid, the American electric car manufacturer, plans to target distinguished customers, showcasing the Gravity SUV and two other types of Air sedans, the Air Pure and Sapphire.
The company reported that it is establishing four new sales centers in Germany this year, in addition to the six centers it currently has in Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Switzerland.
SAIC
After the remarkable success of its MG brand in Europe, SAIC intends to launch its small hatchback car, the MG3, which will be sold within the European market, with plans to expand outside the United Kingdom as well. The new generation of MG cars will come with a full hybrid engine.
SAIC will also launch its new IM premium EV brand. IM, which specializes in the field of smart mobility.
PININFARINA
Pininfarina unveiled its new Enigma GT Concept, which will come with a hydrogen-powered internal combustion engine to control the rear wheels, along with an electric motor in the front axle of the car.
Renault
The French company Renault revealed its new electric car, Renault 5, which is expected to compete directly with potential competitors from China, with a price of less than 25,000 euros.
The Renault 5 will be equipped with two battery sizes and a range of up to 400 kilometers (250 miles), with three speed levels.
