Ford, the American auto giant, believes that its competitors abandoning reliance on V8 engines is a golden opportunity to increase sales of its “Ford Mustang” sports car, which has become the last powerful American car to feature a traditional V8 engine. The Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger are the closest American competitors to the Ford Mustang, as they stopped their production lines last December.
New News - Cars
Experts believe that the disappearance of both Camaro and Dodge from the market is mainly related to changing consumer patterns among customers, as well as tightening global economic standards for fuel consumption, and the emergence of fully electric cars capable of achieving unparalleled acceleration.
60 Years of Ford Mustang Production
Marking the 60th anniversary of the Mustang, Jeff Marinetic, general manager of Ford Blue Products, which includes Mustang, said:
The small car remains a promising opportunity for Ford both domestically and internationally.
He added that for customers who prefer American sports cars, the Mustang is an ideal and economical choice for them.
Pointing out that the absence of competitors is a real opportunity for Mustang, which should be seized to achieve more profits during the coming period.
Unspecified Forecast for Ford Sports Car Sales
Speaking to CNBC, Marinetek refused to refer to Ford’s expectations about the sales of Mustang cars, but he confirmed that the company has launched a completely new model for the Mustang under the name “Dark Horse,” which is characterized by a strong design, as it was equipped with a specially modified V8 engine with a capacity of 5.0 liters and with a power of 500 horsepower, which is the most powerful V8 engine of this capacity ever.
By introducing this new model of Mustang, the company sets a new standard for American cars intended for roads and racing tracks.
Ford also announced the 2025 Mustang GTD with a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that is expected to debut this year with more than 800 horsepower.
Ford also offers its Mustang Mach-E electric crossover, which is relatively like the traditional two-door model.
Shining Outside of The US Market
Some reports indicate that the largest markets for Mustang outside the United States are Canada, Australia and Europe, and the secret behind this is the trend of the leading company since 2015 towards producing right-hand drive models for countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan.
Marinetec declined to comment on future production plans for the Ford Mustang, including the hybrid model that was said to have been canceled for the seventh-generation car or the possibility of a fully electric version of the two-door car.
